Monday morning update

Good morning, We are so sorry that updates have not been as regular as we wanted them to be. The normal operating area around at the north coal dock was not available due to some repairs happening and we were placed in a much smaller space where we were unable to get more than two antennas up with what we had available. With only being able to operate two stations, getting radio time to run winlink messages has been a challenge.

The weather has been absolutely fantastic. Evenings are a bit cool, with temps getting down into the upper 50s and low 60s. Daytime the last couple days has been beautiful, with temps into the 80’s, but really feeling like 90’s in the direct sun. The front that came in on Friday night/Saturday morning churned up the water a bit, so its been chilly, but feels good when you are getting overheated.

We have bee running 2 stations almost non-stop all weekend. We had a few periods of downtime in the overnight hours as we were running in 3 hrs shifts between us, During the day, we used the solar panels to charge up the batteries so we were able to run overnight with minimal power issues. We have probably logged well over 2000 contacts at this point, and we thank everyone for the participation in contacting us to make that happen.

We will be wrapping up operations later this morning so that we can pack equipment. All equipment needs to be packed and on the dock by 10 for loading on the Yakee Freedom.

Logs will be uploaded once we get to the mainland, and can get them all together from the 4 different computers that were being used for logging. We’ll also get some photos posted!
